hola chica

Listening to:

Listening to: A Spanish song that Elena downloaded called "Sin miedo a nada." Does anyone know what that means? I should probably find out.

Oooh look I've found time to write an entry!! Well actually I've given myself a half hour time limit because I want to go to bed at 10:00 so I can wake up early enough for a shower. But anyway.

Elena has gotten SO FUN in the past few days. It's become a lot easier to talk with her about...well, in general. The first two days she was here were really awkward xque because (AHH I'm starting to write like her!!) we were both suddenly not able to communicate comfortably and it was like....so....so...are you having fun? What?? You...have...divierto? What??!? Never mind.

But then we both just made a huge effort to try and learn from each other and now I know a whole bunch of things about her and about life in Spain. And I've discovered Spanish pop music, which is actually really awesome. There's this group called La Oreja de Van Gogh (The Ear of Van Gogh--HAHAHAHA) whose songs I really love, even though I can't understand a word. But I love some classical songs and there aren't any words in classical music either. So yeah. And I've introduced her to Hanson and No Doubt. She especially likes "Don't Speak" by No Doubt. I haven't had her listen to any Hanson yet, but I'll make a fan of her, mark my words.

She had a lot of fun at Six Flags. We took her on 2 coasters and were intending to ride Medusa, but we were both too tired after 2. She bought a lot of things but she won't run out of money because she has a credit card. I was like...I hate you...My mom said I'm definitely not bringing a credit card to Spain. I don't know how I'm going to limit myself when I go. I'll bet there will be so much stuff that I want to buy but since I'll only have cash, I won't have enough. Arghh. It's alright.

Today my mom, my sister, Lindsay and I took her to the mall. She was like this is HUGE! She bought new shoes and an outfit from Aeropostale. I bought a sweatshirt :) Oh, and this fun star-shaped bulletin board at Limited Too. And at Limited Too, Lindsay, Elena and I did that photo-booth thing where you take a picture and they print it out onto all these little stickers. It was fun.

I'm kind of worried because tomorrow she has to go to a different homeroom than me and I'm afraid she'll get lost in the school. But I'm sure I can work something out with Mr. Steele, my homeroom teacher. He's a really nice guy, I'm sure he won't mind if I just check in every morning and then escort Elena down to the Caf and then go to my next class. He's probably one of the more laid-back teachers at school.

But according to Elena, all of the teachers in my school are super-laid-back. She says at her school, the teachers are all serious and strict, and are never funny. I was like JIGGA WHA??? If a teacher is too serious, everyone hates him/her because he/she's either too boring or too mean. I can't imagine ALL my teachers being like that.

Ahh it's only been three days and I'm already used to oversimplifying my sentences so that Elena can understand me. Every time I talk, I keep thinking of ways to make my sentences shorter and more concise. Which, I guess, isn't bad. And I also might eventually stop talking so fast. Yeah right...

I have a whole bunch of other things to say right now but it's 10:00 and I really need to get some sleep. Oh never mind Lindsay just signed on. I guess I'll just finish this entry now and go to bed later. Goodnight!
